Assessment

Conclusions:
Our prototyping shaped the final outcome of our performance by helping us eliminate inefficeint materials, choose appropriate colors and location for the chalk. We found it to be best to choose blue as we were using a powdered chalk and other colors could be mistaken for “unfriendly” or “suspicious” substances.

To our suprise, during our performance, we were positively approached by pedestrians, paramedics and police officers who all offered kind words of support. The blue color was such a highly saturated pigment, that it confused some who thought it was a projected light near the subway entrance.

We feel our final performance followed our initial intention well and with the support of our
documentation and prototypes our project was successful in tracking the flow of foot-traffic
while also creating “pause” and place for some, and momentary curiosity and joy in others. To
us, this means success.
