Urban Flow

Interactive Installation: 2008
Collaborators: Sandyha Moraes & Sayoko Yoshida

Inspired to bring the natural phenomenon of tides to an urban and particularly business setting, URBAN FLOW seeks to create an environment visualizing wave patterns at different tides. Because high/low tides occur twice daily (every 6 hours) the ocean tides at times coincide with the tides of workers coming to and leaving work. This piece poetically brings the natural environment to within reach of often disconnected workers when installed in a work place lobby.
Additionally, it draws connection to the island of Manhattan and the tidal flows of the water that surrounds it.
